Rusty Olds Update

A bit of both. Getting the fit right has been difficult to say the least so some parts, doors etc, will come off initially. All will be refitted for final coat.

It is a real bugger getting everything lined up, basically everything has to be fitted loose until the last item is fitted. Then adjust and tighten, of course when you get to tighten the last bit you find that it is out of place so you have to go back and loosen and adjust again, and again, and again. Seems every time you reassemble it is all in a different place. Oh well.

Look what turned up today

Mmmmmm! Saturday morning car Porn! That looks great!! If my memory isn’t too messed up, was this the car Denise had in USA? If so does she keep in contact, follow along on the rebuild? Maybe I have some wires crossed, but thought of her name when I saw that big set of shiny grill bars!!
Looks great!!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Greg

Yes Greg, she had this one as well as Big Olds so I picked it up from her. She keeps up to date on what is happening.

Where is the bloody sun shine? lol Looks great Gary! Now the fun begins, things can get put back together and stay that way! Good on ya..

Geez Bash, you are a hard task master.😄😄 One of the few cloudy days we get this time of year. Our winters have great driving Weather, clear blue skies and cool temps.

Todays Weather at home, a very chilly 3C min, with a max of 27C here and not a cloud to be seen.

I've been busy with work and have not had much time at home to work on my Olds but I have been tinkering away as much as I can since it returned mid April.

Here are a few pictures

I've put dynomat on the firewall and will progress with the rest of the car as I work through it

I've fitted up most of the engine bay, the polished alloy will have to get redone.

I (very carefully) fitted the dash panel to the body. I even connected the dash switches to the wiring loom.

That will probably be the end of my shed time for the next couple of weeks.

Yes, lookin' great Rusty (but don't see any rust now). I really like that Olds dash, wish I had one for my Chebby.

Looks great Gary, Mark showed me the photos last night and the dash looks great fitted in the car, You have to wear sun glasses :) not dash mat on that mate hahaha.

This weekend I had a chance to install the Instrument cluster (the instruments that I bought at Hortons so long ago, Frank). I think that it came up quite well and the colours work.
