1958 Chevrolet Delray

Started to take care of the rotted area behind the seat.
Cut and bent up some sheet to replace and drilled new holes to make sure the drain tube will pass right through and drip to the ground. Adding a couple of grommets as well.
Just need to give it a good coating of Rust Encapsulator.

Well done so far, you will be very pleased with your efforts when it is all over, good on you and thanks for the story so far.

Finally got the two areas behind the seat done.
This make most of the interior metal work done, aside from fitting some speakers.

Just need to weld in my new wire harness bracket. Then I can run the rear harness to its location.

Keep picking away at the rust

Drivers inner fender's mount area was rusted out and had to be replaced.
Searched for years and could not find one that was in better shape.

Had a second Passengers side and cut out the mount area that was in excellent shape.

Just have about 10" of the lower part of the inner fender to replace. Was able to scavenge that part off the spare, now to blast it to clean it up.

All takes time. I can relate . Good job

Getting the package tray ready for a pair of 6x9 speakers.

The 51mm die cutter (seen in second pic) is a great little tool I grabbed to punch my way through sheet metal.

trying to get stuff up front done so I can eventually put the front clip back on.

Could never find short battery tie downs, had to modify the ones I had by filing down the 3/8's thread and run a 1/4" die

The Delray is starting to resemble somewhat of a car, finally.

Setup my naturally vented paint booth and got the other fender rustproofed on the inside and hit a few small parts as well.
After a while transferred them to cure inside the garage.

Your work space looks pretty cramped there. Any problems spraying out side with neighbours ? Looks like the grass would keep the dust issue low.

With the fenders on, I am now able to continue with the wiring.

Pulling some wires through the harness to route to other locations as others carry on to the passenger side.
