I'm with you there Jamie... hope to have plates on the roadster in a week or so, then work out the teething problems just in time to head your way.
Gin and tonic..... did they run out of Molson Cananadian up there?
Clarke

Molson Canadian:eek::eek::eek:
....not allowed out in the true west but some do drink it...I think they must smuggle it into the west..

OK... I gotta ask.... it's killing me!
ONEBAD56, what do they drink out in the true west? Here I thought Molson Canadien was THE beer of Canada. Please enlighten one who has led a sheltered life.....
Clarke
PS... the 32 goes on the street Tuesday!!! YEEEEHAAAA!!!!

Used to be Lucky Lager, and Uncle Bens malt liquor, but that was in the late 60s - early 70s.

Weeellll, since you had to ask...Molson Canadian is the beer of Canada...out in da east, just like Labatts Blue is also the beer of Canada...somewhere else in da east.
In the the west, some do still drink that stuff.

In the true heart of the west, a.k.a. Calgary, Big Rock Traditional (a.k.a. give me a Trad (( - a beer with no chemicals))., or if you have to have a major brand of sorts with the 6 chemicals to keep it ...Kookanee, then again Keiths, Ricards Red, Sleemans Cream Ale, etc. And then there are those flavoured beers...Bud Lime Light.
Now out in Lotus Land, they have their local favourites too.

Congrats on getting the 32 out on the street.

The Lucky Lager the shlep in Ontario is some awful stuff. I'd like to try Pilsner though, they don't sell it here.

This is a little off topic but what the hell...wobbly pops are always on topic., Lethbridge Pil is still sold out here as just Pilsner, In BC, it was known as Old Style.

Lucky Lager, was an American Beer imported at one time, is now made in Canada under license by, OMG, Molson's. Still a cheap beer of sorts, but Lucky Lager strong is slightly better taste wise.

Hey, ONEBAD56, Thank You very kindly for your words of education and enlightenment reguarding the regional wobbly pop options in your great country. I'll try not to make a social "fooopah" by saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, especially about a subject like beer, which seems to have great national following (second only to Australia... hi John). Since I no longer partake of the stuff, I'll have to accept your word as gospel as to it's differences and subtle nuances. I'm sure we will continue this conversation in person in Lethbridge..... Looking forward to meeting you.

Excuse ME....
BEER....That's got my name all over it!!!!
MOLSON CANADIAN is for LEAF fans. I picked up some good micro brewery beer after the '07 tour in Shelby Montana, I thought were pretty good. The first was "Moose Drool" and the second was "Pig Sweat", they are still aging at my bar. Home town beer is great... London that is, Labatt's blue is a fine hometown beer, and the beers I have qualified for consumption from the west are in fact Kokanee and a small but fine brew called "Steam Whistle" as well as "Okanagan Spring" . From the western US is a delightful brew, "Rolling Rock" which is quite paletable.
I would certainly entertain a suggestion from the PTP people as to their suggestions.
Please NO comments regarding, Busch...Busch Light...or Bud Light for that matter. You might as well drink pissed in water!!!

Please, this is in no means a definitive list and anyone who may be in the "know", please feel free to add quality suggestions.\

And now a word from the sponsors....

Oh !!!! Please, excuse my enthusiasim...
We were talking about the tour
I'm excited as hell to be heading west one more time!!!!And to be traveling with such a stellar group of fine fellows!!!

Fun .... we will try to NOT have any at all.... I mean "What would Davey Do!"

Wayne

I am looking forward to meeting you and seeing our stunning roadster.:)

Wayner.... sorry to pick lint there old friend, but that brew called Rolling Rock is not from the west but actually started in Latrobe Pennsylvania. Used to use that to wash down some George Dickle, and a buddy of mine said it was made with rusty coal mine water... hence it's rather distintive "ring" on your taste buds. Sort of like it was run through a rubber hose..... There are some things I miss.
Hot rod run... wind in your hair... I can just see this is gonna be one to remember. In Great Falls we are booked into a hotel-casino that has a water slide....
Clarke

REALLY.......Really

A water slide!!!! I can't wait!!! bunch a fat dudes blowing the water outta the slde and all over the poor kids. Oh not you Bill, you'll probably not even touch the water on the way down.

Yup Wayner... Really!
This is the stuff that urban legends are made of... a bunch of vericous vigilantes, a casino that serves "wobbly pop", no adult supervision, and a water slide....
Any of you guys have diplomatic immunity?
Clarke

Just to add my N2 cents worth ....Steam Whistle is a downtown Toronto beer, made in the old roundhouse down near the CN Tower........

hmmmm......fatguys and a waterslide.....betcha they close it before we get there..... if they know whats good for them!

Ask me if I'm really pi$$'d off....

Today was a day of .......can't described it other than just WTF.
After a couple of wobbly pops, and I might have another, I've settled into acceptance...sort of.

I work in a union shop, guess you might be able to figure it out whats next.
There is only two of us in the maintenance department, the other guy is full time and has been there longer than me, I'm only part time. Yup, one word, senority, and we're not talking age here. So now you know where this is heading.

When the Points West 2 tour was announced, I checked with my "buddy" on the dates and he had no problemo with them. Marked in the dates on the department calendar.

So I submitted the vacation form for approval, and waited. Current year vacation coincides with the union contract, June 1st of any year.
Everyone submits their vacation request by June 1st, and if they miss the date, first come first served.

He submitted his vacation request on the said date for his two weeks but not conflicting with my dates.

Then Management pulled off a sneaky.
He didn't take any vacation in 2008, so they said his vacation request was for 2008. okay, still no problem. He puts in OT but does not get paid for it, whereas my deal is I get paid for it, since I already have time off.
He takes time off in lieu of OT. He has built up quite a bit of OT hours and they told him he is taking another two weeks vacation for a total of 4 weeks in a row to reduce the amount of time they owe him.

Well, his last week now overlaps my first week, plus a day for July 1st holiday.
He tried to say no, knowing of my dates but they said tough, senority rules.
Unforunately, he bought airline tickets to Romania for him and his wife to pick up their 3 year old daughter based on his vacation request and can't move the dates. so he's locked in.

What does that mean? I got bumped and (apologies for the scream) I DON'T GET TO GO ON THE TOUR! PLUS I'M ON CALL SO I CAN'T LEAVE THE CITY EVEN FOR THE START OF THE TOUR IN LETHBRIDGE.

Yup, rightously pissed off. He's apologetic but nothing he can do, yes I can lodge a grievence but it would be August before the union gets around to it.
Too late. I could quit but that's not an option as part time work is hard to find right now in Calgary. If I win LottoMax, it will be.

So I have accepted the fact of no tour as planned.
In fact, went out to the garage after work, looked at the HRT and said why? I can't even get motivated right now to get the HRT back together, and it was progressing well, everything was on track.

BTW, I work full time for those four weeks while he's gone, no time to work on the HRT.

going for another wobbly pop.

Hey ONEBAD56, I'm darned sorry to hear that you won't be able to make Lethbridge, as I was counting on you to lend some local color to the kick off. All I can say is that I understand, as any job in this day and age is worth hanging on too. Any chance you'll pop up in Calgary? A little time is better than no time at all.
And don't get "down" on that project of yours! You gotta stay motivated through your disappointment, and turning your back on your project isn't gonna do you any good at all. What don't kill ya only makes you stronger....

Hey mate don't spit the dummy in the dirt over no tgetting the time, there is some mysterious reason for that which right now hasn't shown itself. So get onto the truck and you will find out why later, that is one tough F100 which anyone would be happy to have so just keep working away on it, remember 1 day on it now is still closer to you enjoying it.

All the best and maybe for some reason he might be back early, maybe then you could both just swap and not say anything to the management to leave the leave loads as they are and both of you have a win win situation so in theory you are each off when you are supposed to be..

O kay OB56! I was expectrin' to meet you on the tour. That sucks!Big time! And yes I am in ,I sent my regie and the cash yesterday, the only problem, gonna be wheelin' the GMC......again! No 54 til next year!
