1970 Buick Street/Strip Skylark Build

...MMM engine porn!! Now that is a sexy girdle  :D
Thanks for sharing. Those are great looking rods...let me know if you end up with any "2nds" of those, please.
Greg

FINALLY the alum heads are almost ready to ship out to the head porter... I am getting the very first set of Buick 350 aftermarket alum heads ever made EVER. Very exciting!

Its been a while since I have updated so here is a little bit about what I am up to... Very little on the Skylark, still waiting for the alum heads to be released from the prototype phase. Getting other stuff done around the rental house.
Progress! All these pics were taken today...

Got the outdoor gantry lift setup!!! This is going to help me in the removal of the cube after the shingles are removed from the back. I used some 1/4 inch thick steel to make gussets for this! Ready rod bolts it all together ... Used my truck's winch to stand this upright... 10 feet wide and 12 feet tall. The cube van car drive right under it!

Moves some vehicles around to make room for the carport foundation build:

I got all the uprights and the long wood needed for the carport as well as a woodshed I am building... Plus I got a bunch of "cull" or reject wood to build a 28x10 foot parking pad so that no grass and weeds are growing under the cube van/ car hauler. 4x4 wood and 2x8 all pressure treated and all for very low cost! I just needed a good place to park the car hauler/cube van out of the grass so I built this. I also found this lawnmower, works great just needs a turbo!

I know it has been a LONG time since I updated but I have been busy!

In preparation for putting a Buick 350 into my lifted 1991 GMC stepside I built this garage, it will also serve as a nice home for my Regal...

I was running out of space in my 2 car garage at our main house so I built this garage at our lake home. The next step is building a larger garage for a lift, but gotta save up cash for that.

I was having an issue with water pooling around this side of the house, so the garage also solved that problem... It is 28 feet deep and 20 feet wide, I did a steep roof so the snow will slide off easily. It is only 5 feet tall on the one end but that is fine as it is mainly for storage of my regal on that side, plus I am short LOL!!!

There are also a few pics of my overflowing attached garage, which is why I needed this new garage..

I have also done a lot of work on the house this year. new roof, outdoor bar, new hardwood floor, etc etc

Lake 2 minutes from the house:

The next step after I get a few vehicles rebuilt is to built a big shop for a lift...

I started with some empty space beside the house:

Added a 150 pound steel door between the garage and the cube, it is only 6 inches step up into the cube and it is levelled off with a slight slope away from the garage.

Added a better lock on the roll up door since this pic:

Plenty of height to drive my lifted truck in... That is needed as my 1991 GMC Stepside truck is getting some HUGE tires and it has a 10 inch lift..

I added a storm door for two reasons:

1. keep snow out of the door frame
2. Security, I can now park an old truck against the door so no one can even get at the dead bolted door... Angle iron secures the swing out doors from the inside... Also an alarm system and 16 cameras that stream video to my phone!

And a few pics of the work done on the house:

The Skylark is in the garage at the house in the city, it is heated all winter and Leannes brand new mini van parks beside it. I can still fit my lifted truck in the garage if I need to work on it... The engine is out of the Skylark, waiting for the new one to be done...

TTS:
Sorry, a little off topic. Did you happen to notice my post in “Wanted”. If you don’t have such an item I wonder if you may know where I could get one. If so I have family in Parkland County who could pick it up for me.

Also Your build gets my interest. I had a new 1970 350 GS Buick when I was living in Mackenzie BC at that time. Look forward to seeing your finished product.

Thanks, should be up a few hundred HP this winter... still 355 cubic inches, more compression, alum heads pro ported, blockngirdle , billet crank, etc.

HI guys, sorry I haven't updated in ages! My boys are not 3 and 5 years old and heavy into the car hobby! We built a new house with my dream garage. I am learning to fabricate and weld. lots of good stuff happening.

Got my 75 Regal on the road after a LONG rest in the barn for 12 years. It runs fantastic! Its got a high compression Buick 350, 4 speed auto and it turns just 1500 RPM at 70 MPH!

Twin Turbo Skylark With Imgur use the BBCode it will post photo link directly to the forum. Nice to see you making head way.

Sean: Nice digs!
That Century brings back memories, when I lived in Grande Prairie, but worked @ a bodyshop in Beaverlodge, one of the fellows I carpooled with had a Century, but it was a Nova Scotia car, and horribly rusty. On our route back home, we would cut through the Industrial Park in the SW part of GP, but there was one section of gravel, and all of us in the back seat would get choked out from the dust making it's way into the car:(
After a couple of months of this, Brent showed up one day with "fresh" paint.....he had done a quick & dirty patch job and a scratch & blast, looked a little better, and was a little less dusty, but not 100% :)
Your Century is in considerably better shape in 2020 than Brent's car was in 1983!!
