Winnipeg WOW

I spent most of Saturday at the Winnipeg World of Wheels. I have been going to this show form 30 or so years and this was the best show I have seen. The quality of the cars was amazing. Spent a lot of time talking to a lot of the owners. There were some cars from the Calgary WOW that showed up.
Lots of pictures to come.
The bike show was on a separate floor. It would be nice if the bike show had more bikes and less dealers.
This first little car is a 1949 1/4 midget that is mostly original. I found and bought this car a few years back and a friend talked me out of keeping it. There were 8 of these brought into Winnipeg by a wealthy man. He would bring them to Osborne Stadium (where the Bombers used to play) and have 8 local kids race around the outside of the field during half time. I know who the guy is that raced this one. The motor is a 1949 BSA 350, no clutch, direct drive, push start. The leaver on the side is the brake. The body is original, very little changed since the 50's. The seat was redone, copy of the original.

This bike was stunning. Looks like a teens Harley. He has 5 Bonneville salt flat records on a WW11 Harley 45 he built a few years back.

This Gasser is Canada's longest competing drag car. It has been racing since 1964.

Len Penner's 68 Canaro drag car that is the way he raced it back in the day. I think the last time it raced was 1983. He bought the car with 17,000 miles and it has been raced since. It has a 277, not a 288 as the sign says. He shifts upwards of 13,000 rpm. It is a clutch shifted 5 speed. This car has done well in its day. He has a lot of old race cars and show cars that he is putting in his museum. The 55 Chev in the pictures just came back to him. His nephew owned it since the early 70's and passed away last year. Len is restoring it next winter. It was called Mauve Stove. This was my dream car as a kid. I am hoping to get a ride in it next summer. Sorry for some crappy pics.

This truck is a 39? International. The wheels are 27 International. He has a lot of very nice work in it. The suspension is very well done. It would pass a safety any day.

This is a local built car, just finished. This guy does some fine work. The wagon has a 331 hemi with some rare parts on it. The topless truck is also his.

I spent a lot of time talking with the owners of these 2. We also went for supper Sat night and they both supplied the entertainment. Great guys to be with.
The 30 Ford belongs to Allan Bjornson of Estevan Sk and the 44 Chevy belongs to Ron Howrie of Carseland Ab. Both very nice builds.

HPI Customs had some nice cars in the show. The 69 convert is a Dynacorn body with full Cadillac running gear with factory blower. The interior is also Caddy. It was invited to Sema this past fall. He also is doing the white Mustang, did work on the Buick Electra and the 70 Chevelle in previos pics. Tyler is very talented and an amazing welder/fabricator. Young maybe 25-30 years old.

Looks like I missed a great show. I had two moves booked for the weekend so I couldn't make it in. :(

Some very nice rides there, thanks for posting the pic's, looks like a great show alright, something to please everyone.

One thing Winnipeg WOW has done is if you had a car in the show in the last 3 years you cannot bring it in. There is some exceptions, the guy allowing the cars has the say. The Scout was invited even though it was there last year. I think there was 6 cars that were there in the last year or 2. It is nice to see different cars each year. A lot of the out of province cars were invited to the show.
