Ahh the nailhead, a curiously poor design that looks cool dressed up in an open engine rod. I understood that the design was a compromise as the Buick chassis and body guys refused to move the front body mount ribs on the firewall and thus an engine like Olds or Cad would not fit between them. So the goofy head was created to narrow the engine width. Of course Chev followed a couple of years later with a much better head design that made for an even more compact configuration. Meanwhile Tony Nancy and Tommy Ivo did about as good as anybody could with nailheads.
