Looks like you must have everything set just right, good for you, those pipes would have taken a bit of time and look great once you have them cleaned up, don't grind too much of the weld away though, I had a couple of manifolds aluminium sprayed a few years ago and that lasted really well. Any oil on them just wait till they are hot and throw a cup of water over the effected area and it is gone, the only thing that did stain was some mud from down south ........ dam cockroaches, (That is what you call people from New South Wales

thanx guys. im rebuilding the carbs and time it proper,, and try and find some 3in exhaust and fire it again.
