Just as important is the correct sizing for your exhaust along with gentle sweeping bends to minimize restrictions.

As for x vs h, I prefer an h-pipe sound much better, the x -pipes seem to have a "chirping" sound that I dont care for. I can hear one coming from a 3 blocks away.
