A fellow on another forum a while back couldn't open the hood on a late 40s Chevy because the hood latch cable had broken. I realized that if that happened to my car, there would be no way to get at the latch so I designed this tool. I carry it in my trunk. Thought I would share it here. I bent up a coat hanger to figure out the shape required and then modified an old thin screwdriver. I needed the curve in it to clear the edge of the hood. To use it, I insert it "sideways" and then turn it so the bulge or curve is down. Then just feel around for the latch and push to open it. I slid some heat shrink over it so that I could mark it (red paint) to indicate how far in it needs to go to reach the latch. Hope this is helpful for someone.
