Interior
by Frank Colgoni

We always had a general idea of what we wanted to do with the interior and, as you know (see article 33), we had a seat frame. Once we settled on our exterior colour (red), we started the arduous task of trying to come up with an interior colour. Naturally, all the usual suspects came to mind. That is, tan, black, etc.

However, when we showed our exterior colour to John Wilkie (Auto Interiors by John - Grimsby, Ontario), he immediately said "it can only be one colour". Naturally, we said "and that would be?" When he said "red", we said that we'd have to think about that one. So, we took some swatches and off we went - thanking John for complicating the process (we ultimately thanked him for this suggestion).

After considerable thought, we concluded that John was right and that it, in fact, couldn't be any other colour. Our main reason for going with a red interior (other than John loved it) had to do with our flame job. Specifically, looking through this flame job (especially with the door open) and seeing anything other than red would not have worked in our opinion.

We gave John the green light and off we went. Red leather and carpet were ordered then John and I spent considerable time discussing the layout of the seat stitching and other design elements.

The results are below (thanks to John for the killer job):
