C4 Auto Trans Pan Leaks

I'm having a problem with the oil pan on my C4 Trans.
- Have made sure the pan (bolt surfaces) are flat
- Used the best sealant available
- Torqued the bolts to Ford specs.

And the %^&*'in thing STILL leaks!

Anyone have a cure?
Goggled C4 trans and came up with over 20,000 entries with the same problem.

I have ordered a B&M cast aluminum pan, but ... will this cure the problem?

Is it a chrome pan? If so, remove the chrome finish at the mating surface. I had the same trouble with a C-6 about 15 years ago - no issues since removing the chrome.

There are several - TCI being one of them - that claim to be stock dimensions, chromed, but thicker material.

Any of the aluminum pans create a clearance problem. (deeper) Anyone fabricated a skid plate??

If you've sanded off the chrome finish and are still having issues you could try some load distribution tabs ofteh used under valve cover bolts. Also have a real good look around the dipstick/fill tube. I have had one leak there on a case fill version and blow back onto the pan rail flange. Use brake cleaner or carb cleaner to get it very clean and dry to verify where exactly it's coming from.

Good luck!:cool::cool:
