IN 1985, Michelle Mouton went to Pikes Peak in an Audi Coupe Quattro and
won the race despite her being a female, French and driving a German car.
They threw some roadblocks at her, but she prevailed. She pissed off the
USAC officials when she did a burnout in the pits, so they would not let her
drive to the start line....the crew had to push her there. We were an Audi dealer at the time and this was a big deal as she was the fastest vehicle ever
up the mountain.
Audi sold 200 detuned Quattro coupes in North America and we sold one.
Got to drive it and pretty awesome. The car is rotting in a backyard in PG.
I got reminded of all this today when I got my daily Hemmings Motor News
email letter.

Great footage Keith, they were a real Rally winner back then and dominated the Rally scene, I guess that car in P.G. would be rooting away alright which in years to come will make all of the other for the Audi enthusiasts cars more valuable.

Rod Millen is another name that could be recognised for his achievements as well as his son at Pikes Peak.
