The 2016 Canadian Hot Rod Tour - “Points West 3” is now in the history books. 115 vehicles helped us celebrate our 10th. year with 40 cars going “all the way”. Since its inception in 2007, the Tour has covered 31,600 kilometers.

The Canadian Hot Rod Tour would like to thank our sponsors: Jellybean Autocrafters, Hagerty, Horton Hot Rod Parts, Brightwork Auto Art, The Candyman (aka Tom McFadden) and The Old Car Centre. We would not have been able to do this without them.

Additional thanks to: A&W Sudbury, 92.7 Rock Sudbury, 105.3 KISS Sudbury, Rewind 103.9 Sudbury, Northern Superior Brewing Sault St. Marie, The Canadian Heritage Bushplane Museum Sault St. Marie, Superior Seniors Terrace Bay, 89.5 The Lake Kenora, tour participants Iain and Janet Mercer for hosting 110 of us for dinner and arranging tours of the Kirkham and Arnoldussen collections (thanks to the Kirkham family and Clarence Arnoldussen for your hospitality) and Highwood Rod & Custom Calgary for their help in getting one of us back on the road.

Thanks to the Tour participants: Judy and I thank you all for making this adventure memorable. We also thank you for your generousity toward each other in terms of inclusiveness and acts of kindness that help many get through harrowing moments involving vehicle problems. It’s difficult to describe how alone you can feel when a breakdown occurs so far from home – until your fellow tour participants come to your aid. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we had to leave one car a few states back (but not the owners). We look forward to hearing that they have their car home – either fixed or by trailer.

About our “support staff”: Thank you Colin and Sandra for being the last to leave each day, for many long days assisting others and, most importantly, for doing it with a smile.

Finally, to the Tour participants: As I said a number of times during our time together, it was our privilege to spend time with you all both on and off the road. “Memories are made of this”.

Until next time.
