Most of those high dollar sellers are finished to a level way beyond how they came out of the factory. Some of the reasons I think guys in out income bracket (at least most of us) tend to this era is:
parts sourcing
modern power
styling
familiarity
space for the family
more complete
and of course nostalgia.

The 40 to 50 year olds are also buying into the latter part of the three decade era, the 70's.
