Homemade hood prop rod

Here's what I use to help keep the hood up on my car. It beats using an old broomstick Just bent the end of a piece of rod and pop riveted a couple of metal pieces onto the center hood flange. The rubber came from a volvo or something like that at the wrecker. I just swing the rod up toward the back of the hood and push it into the rubber to store. The top or front stays attached to the hood and just pivots as needed. Also attached a little piece of channel onto my radiator support for the rod to sit in when the hood is open. The loop of wire at the front is just there as a place to hang a trouble light. The cotter pin is to keep the rod from falling out and I put a rubber grommet on there to keep it from rattling.

I just bought a 2014 Nissan Rogue and it has a prop rod with a nice storage clip. The rod stores up under the hood.

This could work too..
