Now that the "sting" of selling the '41 has eased; time to move on.

I'm not going to lay any claims to the longest running build; but it just might qualify.

First some history.
Purchased - (complete '28 A minus front fenders) - in 1968 (give or take a couple of years)

Purchase rolling chassis (TCI) from Wayne Wadson (Edmonton) - 1969.
Pack body frame, etc. away while building a house, and re-storing a '68 Plymouth.
Returning from a trip from Regina; did a "Dukes of Hazard" with the Plymouth and lost the use of my left leg.

Now, along comes the son of a good friend - Brant - who is looking for some work.
Fabricates, welds ... and comes up with a few good ideas

Brant has already posted a "whack" of pictures showing the progress we (well mainly him!!) - have been making.

How to connect the Mustang II rack to a GM intermediate shaft???

So I'm at the point with the build on my '56 Chevy shortbox that I am tackling the steering. I have a Mustang II rack mounted on a TCI cross-member and a Buick Regal tilt column in the cab. I picked up a new looking collapsable intermediate shaft from the auto-recyclers today for $20 in perfect shape, out of an '02 Astrovan. Damn, it looks perfect - small and sleek like a more expensive Borgeson joint system without the price, and, not as big and cumbersome as some stock systems like the S-10 shaft, etc. It has no rag joint, but has two universal joints. One end slides onto the end of the column no problem, being a GM product I had hoped as much, but as I figured the other end does not match. The mustang rack does have the 3/4" splined shaft and the intermediate shaft does have a 3/4" splined hole, but either the number of splines is different, or the flat side of the shaft isn't the right size/shape, etc . Everything else looks great and I'm 90% of the way there. Any ideas out there??

BTW, the truck will instantly fail inspection here in BC if we do ANY welding on steering components, so that is out of the question.

Two Mcrearey dirt track tires, complete steering system out of a chevy corsica. I was going to use it on my car but it doesn't clear the pan. Has pump, rack, hoses and mounts. Old esso fuel can, 51 ford trunk lid handle.

Two 16" dodge rims with mismatched tires. as well as two more 15" one is a dodge and one is a british car of some sort.

4 new baby moons. 8" on the back. and a fifth that is a little different.

two 50's ford car rads. Both need love but you could make one good one out of two. and one out of a 91 toyota pick up. might fit in an A rad shell. Needs love but supposed to not leak.

A question for the ford experts. I have a friend who has a 1990 ford 5l and an aod in an older truck. The trans slips in od. The oil is burnt and stinks. He was told it is a t/c problem. I have looked at a schematic of the aod and see that there is an overdrive band that actuates the o/d. My question is where does the servo that applies the o/d band get its pressure from? As far as I can see this is a non-electronic trans and relies on the tv or throttle pressure rod for trans control. If anybody has any ideas please help. thanks for your input; sincerely Larry

We've attended every event except the 2009 one due to our move, 29 outta 30 shows! Not a bad record.

Most of the BCHRA'ers took home some 'trinkets'. I missed out on the shiny stuff but after the park n sit was over and most of us were back at our camps, an American in a '38 or '39 Ford stopped out front of our trailer. He got out, walked to his trunk and opened it an hauled out a neat l'il award from his club, (Twin City idlers) presented it to my wife n I and proceeded to take a pic for us and the fugerly ol '37 for the club archives. The award said "We just wanted to say we think you have a NICE RIDE"
