Figured there MUST be someone on here that can help.....
Working on my '37 Ford PU and need to find a gas tank...
Want it mounted UNDER the bed...at the rear
Need top fill
These are the MAX dimensions of a tank I need...
40" long 14 1/2" wide and 12" deep..
Anyone know what type/year of vehicle might have a tank that size? So that I can order/find one?
Any help appreciated

There's a lot of knowledge on this board but we appreciate guys who take the time to fill in their profiles (where you live etc) so we know who we're talking to. Have you done an intro?

I believe one of the local guys used an Econoline tank in a 36 Ford coupe. This was about 20 yrs ago but for some reason it stuck in my head.

I have also heard the first gen. mustang thing. Fabbing one from scratch just isn't that hard to do either. Especially if can find a tin basher in your neck of the woods who drinks beer.

Check out the RCI fuel cells they have various dimensions for street rod applications and pretty reasonable to. I picked up a 17 Gallon aluminum cell for my 49 chevy sedan from Mopac and I think it cost $220-$240 cdn. with the sending unit and fill tube.

with the sending unit and fill tube.
Don't forget though, the sending unit ohm range has to match the gauge ohm range or it won't read right.

Next time you see an '80 something Chevy Blazer, crawl under with your tape measure. I think a friend used one but that was a few yrs back so maybe?

I believe it came with a sending unit for a GM. I have the ohm range but I can't remember off the top of my head but it will depend on the type of gauges I put into her.

For myself . I want to change my 50 Chev truck to an under the bed tank . Everytime I go to an auto wreckers I see these new styled black plastic tanks piled up all over . I figure when I go to change mine I,ll just measure up an get one that fits good and voila , a new tank for the 50 . Some have the filler necks and gas caps still on them with the sender and pump too . All you would have to do is put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator between pump and engine . Or just take the electric pump outta the sender and rig up a lil sump line in place of the pump .Then use mechanical pump on engine .
Not an exact fit for your application , but it might give you a few ideas..77.
