I recall back in the early sixties a friend reversed the spindles in his '49 to lower it 2-3". I think he had to switch sides as well to line up. Just wondering if anyone has done this and if the steering arms need massaging as well? Also, has anyone done this then fab-ed in a later model rack?? Seems a cheaper and easier way to go rather than a clip or Must2 and still retain non welded parts.

Probably cheaper to buy dropped spindles from Fatman's. Then everything works, no fab'ing necessary, suspension geometry is retained. A quick wheel alignment and yur're in business.

Yea, I thought about Fatman stuff but I didn't see any advantage. One still needs either bent or after market steering arms either way. And the only fabrication after that would be retro fit rack(s) . Also I recall a friend had problems with Fatman spindles a few years back as I "think" they are fab-ed & welded, not one piece forged but I'm unsure about that. I don't think ewverything works with Fatman as he also tells me that I have to get the spindles machined to accept disc which are a must & the cost exceeds everything done before!

You might be correct on the Fatman's stuff as I have found their MII to be a little on the light duty side.
There is another vendor out there that does specialize in 50's suspensions:
Jamco Suspension. They have a web site. Quite a few use their parts, haven't heard any bad stuff 'bout them..

Yep, I've tried them and also Walton Fabrication who make complete front end stuff for our early chevs and while they are reportedly very good, I'd still like to try the old way as my car will be stepping back to the way things were done in the late '50's , early '60's. I guess I'm 180 on the power steering rack tho!! Blush!! It just makes it easier to fit a nailhead in !!!
