Baseheaters were made by several companies in Taunton, Mass starting around 1905 up till around 1933. They were sold under two names and are identical except for the name on the door. They came in two sizes and the photo above is the smaller of the two heaters and is a #6 Quaker Base Heater.
This one is in beautiful shape ( as can be seen in photo ) and is in excellant working condition, will heat a very large garage or home.
You do not see these very often as they're very rare, but are the best of all the base heaters. The bottom is held together by long rods that eliminate any stress on the large bottom plate.
THIS base heater was in the Brad Pitt movie 'The Assassination of Jesse James' and was purchase from the movie studio shortly after the movie aired in theatres.
The other Quaker Base Heater Model #8, dwarfs the Model #6 stove.
The #8 is so large that it has an oven under the dome big enough to cook a small turkey. These are real heating machines and will last a lifetime or two. The #8 is simply one of the best coal burning ( can use wood ) and impressive heaters ever made.
An average condition #8 recently sold for $3000 US dollars. With todays exchange, that's approx. $3000 CDN.
