Has anyone put an S10 5speed behind a later model 235? I have seen articles on the inline6 sites, but wanted to know if any one has any first had experience?

A friend of mine put a 283 in frt of a t5 in a 6 cyl 83 or so jeep , Basically same eng an trans as far as trans and eng mountings . He used advanced adapter kit . Worked great . Came with everything .
Your gonna love the t5 in there .
I would think you could use a 5 spd bell from just about any mid 80,s v8 or sbc patterned engine .
I do know that , the 83 an newer to 90 ??. Camaro an trans ams with t5 use a smaller bell housing and flywheel and starter , cause it has to clear firewall and trans tunnel . . So you cant mis match part say between like a s10 and a camaro ..77.

77,
The Chev 235 bellhousing is totally different to the SBC.

Craig,
I think DJ's right on! I have a T5 behind a small block chev in my 29. The first thing I did was to swap the Camero tailshaft for an S-10 tailshaft. That puts the shifter in a better place. In order for the T5 to fit up behind the bell, I had to open up the 4 mount holes. You may have to shorten the input shaft depending on your situation, but the register hole in the bell should accept the 5 speed input snout. Have you checked at www.inliners.org

Oh yea I was thinking when you said " later " , I was thinking 230-250 style bell pattern which is same as sbc patterns ..77.

Dave,
It looks like the "standard" four ears on the bell housing. I have a complete 1958 235 with a 4speed cast iron granny tranny. The top two bolts of the trans come out from the outside and the bottom two you have to remove from the clutch side of the bell housing.
I will check with the tranny king and see if I can get a muncie to check the fit.
