I just finished cutting my own glass for the coupe .It’s all flat so real easy to do .I made Plexiglas templates 1/4" thick and tried them out .Once I was happy with them we marked them out on the final glass which was tinted grey and cut them and sanded them to match the templates .I did the sides and rear glass. They I sent them out for tempering. Tempered glass is 3 1/2 times stronger than regular glass .I have seen too many windows broken because regular glass will flake easy if hit on its edge or break due to the door slammed.A lot of cars have laminated glass in the side but it breaks too easy so avoide them. . The front glass is a bit tricky as it must be laminated by law which is 2 pieces of glass with a plastic sheet between. It must be cut on both sides and then tapped gently and wiggled a bit till loose then methyl hydrate on the crack and lit with a match to burn .As the thing is burning you pry the glass out by pulling and then get it far enough that you can cut it with a razor. Once you’re close sand the edges and fit it in .The sides are easy but if you’re not confident on the laminated front glass, places like apple auto glass can do it.

Masonite is way cheaper to play with than plexi for pattern making. Based on your comment about finishing the edge of the windshield, I'm guessing that you plan to glue in your windshield. You know that good reproduction windshield frames are available, right? As are hinges.... slide arms, etc etc. But if you're determined to glue it in (grumble, grumble, grumble), I think most guys used an S-10 (as in Chevy S-10 truck) style rubber molding.

For my 50 chevy p/up with split w/shield. The dark grn tinted stuff cost me like 13 bucks a square foot . IIRC, at a local glass shop
I supplied a new rubber trim . Cost for glass an labour was like 140 bucks . I think .
If you use a glass shop find one that does boats or rods or motorcycle fairings . Then you , ll know they can think outside the box an be creative . Some glass shops are just in an outs and thats it ..77.

I'm getting glass cut for my model a, friend of mine owns a glass shop. 250 $ for 30% tinted glass cut to fit (side windows, corner windows and back window.) I don't know if this is cheep or not, but you can't buy much for 250$ anymore.....

The deductible for glass insurance in BC is 300.00 for the windshield so 250.00 is`nt bad I don`t think:cool:

The opening had a commercial two way type of tape layed around the perimeter. Then commercial grade silicon was trouled in .We did not use a frame with hinges because they leak and they are a pain to open and close. We did not use a chrome trim or frame because we didn't feel the look we wanted . I put air in the car so why open it .It’s in and it looks great.
