I have a couple of clear coat runs in the Camaro and need to sand and buff them out.

What should I start and finish with? Whats the right process?

I'm pretty sure there is lots of clear on the car so I don't think I would have to worry too much about burning through to the paint.

I would take the runs out with a nice clean new razor blade BEFORE you start buffing or sanding ...use the razor to scrape the high off the run just keep scraping till it's gone...then you wont have to sand hardly...then do your buffing....the trick is scrape the runs, not slice them off...

One little thing to remember is where the run came from will leave that area with a little less material.....When you have taken the flow indicator almost down to the level of the rest of the surface area I would suggest that you start with 15 hundred and then go to 2000 and then 2500 wet sand paper to finish your leveling.. Then do your buffing....Try to keep in mind your deepest sandpaper scratch is how far you have to go into your clear...Your course cut sand paper scratch went into the clear...You want you next level of sand paper cut to just go to that level and then the next level of sandpaper to the same level as the very first cut..When all the course scratches imperfections are gone and the clear is at the last stage of sand paper then you can start the polishing stage and that is another story........
