Anyone remember an cheapy aftermarket small daimeter wheel with a really deep offset? i'm thinking maybe they used them on those lowrider bicycles or go karts etc. My bar stool racer progect needs a wheel like that and I've searched the web without much luck.
i bought what you are looking for about a year ago at lordco, it has about a six inch inset with wheel about 10-12 inchs across with black foam rubber stuff

I understand Lordco is a major automotive supply house in Bc. Their website doesn't list parts though. Do youu happen to have a phone number? Thanx

You could always make your own and just buy a boss kit if you needed one.

I'm running out of time. Trying to get my coupe on the road and the bar stool ready for a car show that's coming up way too soon. John, what do you mean by a "boss kit"? da66beaumont, I tried to call Lordco this morning, forgetting about the time difference of course, and never did get back to it. My wife's not well right now and she's trying to help her sisiters take care of my father in law's estate so I'm spending a lot of time driving her around and doing errands and Honey-do stuff she usually does. The mobile glass guy's coming to install the widshield and rear glass in my '34 Tomorrow - actually, from the clock I see it's today, so I'll try to call them when I get a bit of time. I really appreciate your offer. Thanx fellas!

47 the boss kit is the part when you go into a shop and tell them you want which ever design steering wheel and you tell them it's for a whatever brand of car they get the correct boss for that model car, as in it has the correct spline etc. I have bought boss kits myself when I have made my own wheel. But it depends if you are making your own shaft etc then all you would need to do is weld a plate on the top of the shaft with the same patern you are going to use on the wheel and just bolt it on then all you would need is a cover to go over the centre section where the bolts are to tidy it up.
A lot of the older cars just used a tapered shaft and a woodruff key which worked mighty fine as well.
I was thinking you had a existing steering shaft out of a car but maybe you have made your own shaft after all.
If you are still confussed I could take a picture to explain it better.
Cheers, John

Ahhh, I got it. In this case it's just a hub, with three holes, drilled and tapped like a Grant wheel adapter would have. Pretty simple stuff. I worked on my motor mounts and installing the chain on the Kart today, then spent a few hours cleaning up the barn. Didn't really put much of a dent in it. Then my mobile glass guy came over and installed the windshield and rear window in the '34. A few brown pops after that and it was time for dinner - so I didn't get around to ordering a steering wheel again today. I don't know how most glass cars are made but mine has a flange that the Butyl sits against. This flange isn't really finished on the inside and, I guess gets left to the upholstery guy to complete. Kinda awkward for him though with the glass in. (I want to drive the car this summer without the interior being finished) My glass guy suggested using a rubber from a Jeep windsheild on the inside and the typical S10 type of trim on the outside (Glued in glass) This Jeep stuff has a channel that fits over the fiberglass lip and a finished edge similar to the outside stuff that butts up against the interior panel and the glass. Also leaves a nice edge along the top of the dash board. (I used a narrowed '49 Meteor dash if you remember the photos that Hugh took a while back) I'm pretty happy with the look and I'll post a couple of pics when I can borrow the daughter's digital.
