Well folks,
tomorrow is a big day for me. I am having surgery to "Resurface" my right hip. Absolute NO DRIVING time, 6 weeks, time till they will let me get at it again 8 to 10 weeks (12 weeks of banked sick time), knowing I have 9 weeks of banked vacation time........ PRICELESS. Looks like I will "officially" retire mid October, But...There's that butt again... my last unofficial day at work was last Friday. One of very very few Fridays that i do work.
I, like many others, have looked forward to this for a while...not a long while just the last couple of years when things at work got bananas. Now I'm looking forward to completing a few projects around the house, finishing the 29, in my own time, and generally enjoying family, friends, and hot rods, in that order. We all make excuses why we don't spend time with friends. We're too busy, I have something schedule at work for that weekend..etc.,...etc. keep in mind that friends are the only people that have made a conscious choice and accepted you for who you are!!! Family have to be around you like it or not, hopefully liking it.
The college has asked me to do some part time stuff and we'll see about that. I guess it would depend on what, how much time per week, and with whom(this makes a big difference) . So I may have a part time job cutting into MY time already.
So now that I'm a lazy ol' retired guy maybe I could be of some help around here. What do you think Frank???

Good for you Wayne. I tried the retirement thing a while ago, then tried driving big rigs part time. Now I've got two rigs, 4 drivers and I drive 3 times a week! Oh well, I still have 4 days a week to do my own thing.

Carl

PS. good luck with that surgery.

Be careful of your Testosterone Levels ;) (lame Floyd Landis joke)

Best wishes on a smooth recovery from the surgery, due to Floyds hip problems that type of surgery has been well covered in cycling media over the past few years.

and congrats on making it to the other side "retirement"

All the very best with that Wayne, hey you better chase Mumma around now while you still can. I have a mate who had that reline done and he is so happy he got it done. He is back playing touch football and playing base ball again.

Hey man congratulations with the retirement, good for you, ahh a sleep in coming up next winter and no rush to get to work. Maybe a trip down under next winter could play into your hands for a bit of warm weather eh. I've already got your room ready for the 2 of you and bring Jerry and Joyce with you.

I hope all goes well for you with the operation.

Cheers, John
