If you've been around the Langley area...you've undoubtably seen a VERY cool Pro Street Blue Fairmont 2dr wagon with a 460 hanging out of the hood !!
Noel(the owner)and 60 years young, .. spent years ,taking 2 Fairmont wagons and a 2dr car to create his dream car..
...a 2dr Fairmont wagon Pro Street car!
The car was a work of art and Noel was always more than happy to explain all the work he'd done to get to this Beautiful End.
Saturday nite, while driving home from the local cruise spot...only blocks from home.
Noel was killed when a 4x4 rear ended him so hard that it managed to fold up the rear section of the car, and flip it into a ditch!
.. then the 4x4 driver took off....
...(mind you..he turned hinself in 12 hours later)
Keep in mind..this car was built to strict NHRA standards!!
2x3 frame, 16 point roll cage!!
That 4x4 must have been doing WARP speed to cause that much damage!!
Anyhow..I met Noel thru his wagon...the 'wagon world' has lost another nice guy , and a true wagon fan.
My deepest sympathy to his family and freinds
RIP Noel

Heres the clip from the langley paper
Police have arrested a suspect in the hit and run death of a 62-year-old Langley resident.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, the victim, Noel Desrochers, was traveling in a 1979 Ford Fairmont in the 21000 block of 48th Avenue, near Newlands Golf and Country Club. He was struck by another car and died at the scene.
The victim was the only occupant of his car, said RCMP Cpl. Peter Thiessen.
By Sunday morning, police had a suspect in custody.
Corey Michael Elliott, a 33-year-old Langley man, has been arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
The suspect has already appeared in Surrey Provincial Court and has been released from custody.
His next scheduled court appearance will be on May 13.

To be honest with you Iam so sick of hit and runs ... And tried so hard to get laws changed because of it , Buy didn,t get anywere. I tried for 5 years... If you remeber back in 2003 my daughter was killed by a hit and run driver ( Carleys Law ) on 36 ave in aldergrove. 3 girls that night were hit on there way home by a drunk hit and run driver and my daughter had her life taken. Iam sorry to vent but Iam very sick of my friends and family members to be taken and our goverment back east just sits on there asses. I and my family have tried everthing in our power to change things to better us and other families of this but got no where......Like I said sorry to vent

Wow...words aren't coming to me now. I met him through his wagon too. Always a decent guy, always happy to talk about his car or yours. Condolences to the family. Too bad the "probably" drunk will get not much more than a slap on the wrist after the prosecutors plea bargain away the more serious charges.

My condolences to his family and friends....How horrible the chain of events this is..... My thoughts are that when we get to our sixtys most of us are hurtin in one way or another from our time here but it is also the most important time where we get to see the grandchildren and can enjoy some of the fruits of all our working years....

Noel was an old Vancouver rodder and was in the Shifters in the 60's with guys like Lee Harrison and Gary Lang. His wagon was a beautiful piece of engineering, hard to believe he could get killed in something that safe. One never knows. Our condolenses to the family. Pat

It'l be on his mind for the rest of his life but people have to learn to deal with it in one way or another
just proof that drinking and driving don't mix and we make dumb decisions when we drink

In a way, this never should have happened. You can build the safest car around, but if you don't wear your seatbelt, it really cuts down the survival chances. Tow truck driver said Noel wasn't wearing his (and there was a 4 point harness installed). This in no way diminishes the tragedy, but may serve as a little wake up to all. Safety equipment is there for a reason.
As for all the above comments, I can't say I disagree with any of them. My thoughts are with the family.

I heard a couple of 'rumors' at lunch today, but don't want to pass them on in case they aren't correct. This sorta stuff just 'irks' me.

My condolences, to his friends and family.
The poor man was just in the fun part of his life and was starting to enjoy what he has worked so hard for for many years and in a second it has all been taken form him and his family. Madness to think people can get away with a minor penalty when the family will be paying for the loss for the rest of their days.
Regards, John

No rumor about the belt. I also have it from an impeccable guy who has first person accounts. Any way you cut it though, its still a tragedy.

Johnny this had nothing to do about seat belts. These had to do with the estimated speed the 4x was doing and the cause of death.

My condolences to his friends and family.
This type of thing keeps happening and the government seems to do nothing about it. A slap on the wrist and they are back out on the roads taking our families lives into there hands. It's a terrible shame...
