Shaun....does that mount somewhere specific ? Or on the floorin the rear, etc........I also think the window mount units are neat, but no electric motorin them.Pretty neat score, I would say.:)

I am going to set it on the floor either front or back. I bought it because it has a 6 volt motor (Ply is 6 V) and it was WAY cheaper than the bullet window styles. $140 and it all works, inside has a rack of sponges for surface area and the fan blows out the vent.

There is a neat cooler! First one I have ever seen; I would assume that if there are sponges, then you would need to add water? Is there a 'cooler' for the water/ice?
If you end up taking it apart, could you post pictures?
Thanks:)
'Cool' find,
Greg.

I did take it apart; like everything else i own :D, but i put it back together.
The inside has some wire racks where the sponges are held on their edges. You add water in the lovered vent (which comes off), the sponges absorb the water and the fan blows into the box and out the vent.....giving cool air, cool air relative to the amibiant air depending on the humidity. Wouldn't be hard to build.
It holds a lot of water and obviously you don't want it to full so it sloshes out but enough to keep the sponges wet.
Anyone know the vintage on this ??

:eek:Well what you have is a humidifier . Fill it with water and put it in your car on a hot day . In about 15 min you will be done .You think the humidity is bad in southern Ontario ,you will be begging to get out of the car.The only thing that will be cooler is the sponges .This process does not give cooler air As the water evaporates it cools the sponges and the water absorbes the heat in the sponge , Soak your arms with water on a hot windy day and you will feal cool  Take the blower motor out and plug it in and aim it at your face .That will work better .

Well, I think the point is here only $150.00 and can be used
in more than one car and might help relieve some "overheating" of passengers.
I just did my '54 wagon with Vintage Air and $1800.00 with brackets just for
a few days a year is a push !!

I don't expect to chilled in the car but i know last year for the 2 weeks it was so hot; with wife and daughter with long hair the 4 55 A/C wasn't the best for them. I'll try it if nothing else it is a unique conversation piece.
