Found out yesterday that my 2003 S'crew has blown head gasket(s). OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH Goody......

With 200,000kms on it, and the dealer qouting at least 20hrs to pull the body off to do the head gaskets (and minimun 3500 beans), I have now decided to pull the engine myself and replace it with a low milage engine (40,000miles for $1600). From the forums and info I have gathered, the task can be done without pulling the body (appearantly), just the hood and rad to remove the engine. Heck, I even toyed with installing a super charged 5.4 out of a lightning (for $6500).... wooo hoooooo (but the wife kyboshed it). Oh well........... such is life. I am off to the wreckers ASAP and start this lil quest. TTFN

If yah need the body removal procedure I have a very good pictorial step by step ..if yours is the 4.6 you can maybe do it with out removing the cab if it's the 5.4 I have my doubts...I would pull the body it takes about 5 hrs and makes the job easier..if you want the pictorial send me your e-mail ...I will forward it ..

Hmmmm, If your doing a 4.6 and going through all that work, I have a Magnacharger blower set up for the F series Ford. Needs to be the 2 valve 4.6 though that was made up to 2003.
$1500 and ya have your own Lightning of sorts.......good for 130 HP gain.

Kanuck :D

No. its a 5.4...... and I nursed the truck to (and back from) Spokane Wa to get the new motor today. With any luck I can start the transplant tomorrow. I'm not sure the magna charger will bolt on a 5.4?
