View Full Version : What's your latest build?
Hey all, just wondering what fellow members are working on and if you're willing to share some pix.
Attached is my 31 Ford I want to have on the road for July.
I bought it in Vancouver last May from a fellow who owned it since 1960. I picked it up complete with fenders, frame , a fully rebuilt original motor/tranny and almost everything needed to put it back to stock....but no.
Its running a 350/350 from a 69 vette, auto and an 8 inch Maverick GT 5 bolt rear.
I've channeled it 4.5 inches and chopped it 5.
I want it to look like it's been around for a while so rather than do up the body pristine, I took after it with a wire wheel to take off the worst of the flaky rust and hit the main body with Rust converter and left it at that. I live on the end of a 1/4 dust bowl road that turns to mud for 3/4 of the year. I've already been down the road with cleaning 4 hours for every 1 hour of driving and I'm not into it anymore. This is as clean as it will ever be. I've got used ribs for this year and over winter I may close it up, we'll see.
The chop was finnished in 2 days and another day to grind and fill the welds with approx 6 oz of all metal. Then I got busy and blended it all in. It's hard to tell how old the paint is or when it was chopped.
The seats are original bombers, the steering wheel is 64 chev, the shifter a 23 inch gennie gooseneck (if it ever comes from the twit vendor I bought it from over a month ago
I picked up my dash goodies at the swap meet in Vernon a couple weeks back (49 Buick) and I haven't told my wife but I found a nice offy tri-power with Rochesters so the Wieand is up for sale.
And the Deitz headlights... a $10.00 garage sale find!
I'm looking forward to seeing some other builds!

here's mine, a 33 Ford five window coupe that I am building as though it was still 1957. The body is made from a racecar, and is channeled over the frame. Running gear consists of a 53 Cad 331, 39 Ford trans and 40 Ford torque tube rear. Still looking for the quarter window moldings if anyone has a pair for sale - yah, I know, they http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee275/ss34coupe/33_Ford_Coupe_005.jpgare hard to find.

Lono, thats a great looking coupe, but if I may make a suggestion? Lose the skull! haha, it just takes away from the overall look.
perhaps a different stearing wheel too? something pre '60 would look much better imho.
As for me, just trying to get my car back on the road before I waste away my summer :p
Then I'm going after a '30/'31 coupe for myself :)
I need to get a pic of the 64 chev steering wheel... the skull... that's the shifter knob. I also pulled the tank and its behind the seat but I did keep the filler cap there... I just like the look of them, but hey thats me.

I'm building my shop still:rolleyes:
And am in the process of clippin, diffin, millin and generally fabbin everything on my '66 Mercury crew cab.Its getting slammed in the dirt and were putting a shortbox fleetside box on it. Should be a killer swapmeet bruiser/ family cruiser!
I'm also collecting parts for a '29 model A open car, which will be on deuce rails.
Oh and still looking for a '60 Starliner or a '58 Pontiac project car.

I'm getting antsy waiting to get my dash back.
I jobbed it out to get the holes cut for the gauges.
I've misplaced my 4 3/4 drill bit.
if that is your wiring on the floor you got some serious problems haha
:mad:dig this... snow today!
A good day to stay indoors and get something cool done.
I'v been waiting for 5 weeks for my gennie shifter. I love it, a snap to install and made from real metal!
I bought it off ebay from a twit vendor who's into building rods outside Toronto. Nearly 6 weeks to save 11% tax...
not worth the wait. I hate these smucks who sell stuff on line they dont have in stock.
I wont bother posting his company name here in case there's ever a chance that he may buy some add space and support CRHRC.
Got the dash in and installed the Buick swap meet gauges.
There's a local who does some pretty nice pinstiping.
I'll look him up a little closer to summer.

This weekend I'll clean up the interior a bit more and next week my tank will be here.
http://www.izitreality.com/rod/EPSN0001_edited-2.jpg
I had it made to fit down in Langley, B.C... I'll let you know how it works out.
The suns out and I'm in the shop as much as possible.
I went to the Penticton swap meet and picked up a few goodies
for the next build but the wife says stay focused on this one...
so to keep peace... focus focus.
The weekend was about getting the tank and battery box in and the last of the trunk tin.

The intake arived today so I'm getting that plugged in.

My 41's in the body shop....it might be painted by the weekend....still tons of work to be done, but I hope to have her on the road by the end of May...http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/PACO_072/paucho1.jpg...she's not really that low, the picture has been photoshoped....in reality, she'll be about 3" taller........
Incredible looking ride, the 41 is got to be my favorite.

I've been working on this for a couple of years. It's coming! Hopefully ready for Points East. Sorry about the fuzzies. I think my 5 year old Nikon needs replacing.
