Thinking about going on next years tour and wondering how it works for break downs. How long does the group wait for repairs, at what time do they say see ya ?
Is there a trailer or support vehicle in the group ?

Reading a bit of the coverage of last years tour would answer your questions in a flash.

In particular read about how the break downs were handled in the third installment.

Shaune the wait for the trailer is very short .If you break down some one is always there to help. I know, as that is my pickup coming out of the trailer in the third installment. The people you will meet are the greatest people you want to meet. The fun and memories are something else. Go for it.

Pack some essential tools with you and if it can't be fixed on the side of the road, the tag trailer will take you to the overnight stop area and a mechanic will be found. Or help will be located through the comrodderie Rodside Assistance list, someone local will be there to offer their shop and tools.
Here's the list. If you're not on it, then ask Frank to add you to the list.

Shaune, I was the driver of the truck and trailer last year and will be again for the "Gone Roddin" tour this summer as well.
We have a selection of tools with us in the support truck and a few other essentials but the intent of the support truck is to aide in anyone that may experience a problem on the run and not necessarily fix their car. There is no gaurantee that you will get fixed on the roadside but we can pretty well gaurantee that you won't be left on the side of the road. Ask Homer, or Don, or a couple of others that we came across last summer. The support truck is the last one in line when leaving the hotel in the morning and as it turned out is the last one to arrive at the hotel and/or event that evening, so as long as you stay on the mapped route then we should be able to find anyone that may be experiencing a problem. Anyone that cannot be fixed up on the roadside gets loaded up and taken to the nearest hotel or to the nearest fixer upper shop. Last year we were very fortunate and everyone that had a problem was either fixed up on the side of road or fixed up the next day by a local shop. Once we take you to a shop then the support truck moves on to catch up with the rest of the tour. Last year we only had 2 cars that had to play catch up the next day, Don (rear spring ) and Barry/Vicky (windshield).

As mentioned by some of the others you won't find a better group of people that are willing to lend a hand to get you back on the road. There were many people last summer that pitched in and got there hands dirty even if it was just to hand a wrench or go on a parts run ( just never know when you you're going to need five wheel studs, especially for the same wheel). You gotta remember you are travelling with a bunch of car guys/gals and more importantly a bunch friends !!!

Jamie, there was one left behind in Calgary as well, but we wont name names eh FC, he wasn't realy left behind even then because there were others who stayed by his side to help, there realy is a great bunch of knowledegable folks on the runs you will find Shaune. I know at one of the break downs last year we still had a good time and there wasn't too much swearing and Davey Joe showed the quick way to change the 5 wheel studs Jamie is talking about.

But before you go on the run give your car a good check over and do a major service including checking everything and you'll be right as rain, and if it's a rattle you can't fix there and then but wont do any harm, just turn the radio up louder;) or drop the caps off your pipes.

Cheers and You will have a good time there I know I did on the last one, John
