Jeff,
MY GOD YOU"LL BE KILLED!!! You chromed the front spring...are you not afraid of hydrogen embrittlement???

Way to go that truck looks great!!! Will you ever post some of your art work here??? on the EH ! side

I found the truck at the Waterdown swapmeet in '89......here is the way it was when I got it....
unchannelled with the 4 inch chop.. fully fendered.
It had a beat flattie with Fenton heads and a dual pot intake.
I had a nailhead for it but got talked into a 289 and C4.
Ran good....but I wanted a bit of its heritage back.....
so after my pop passed away in 2000 the adventure began.......

Around 1990......

Jeff, you are doing a fantastic job on that rod - nice to return it to its original heritage. More and more of us are coming to understand the importance of rodding's past, so thanks for your contribution. Great work!

Jeff the truck is looking gorgeous, too clean and too much like a real life model kit. You must be killing yourself on the details. I'd never have the patience for that.

Love the frame with the box mounted pictures they are a refreshing point of view when we're inundated with images of truck cabs on empty frames.

That spring is going to be hard to clean when it gets full of salt ;-)

Thanks Mike.....
that means alot coming from you.
I am kinda a "wash n wear guy" My intentions are to show the truck for the first year, test drive it and work out the bugs(there is ALWAYS bugs!)
Then ... drive the krap outta it!
WASH N WEAR= Rinse it down and air dry at full speed.:)

I also must make a special note as well....and spam too
None of this truck would be ANYWHERE without the help of a truly great individual name NEIL CANDY......
I owe Neil a great debt of gratitude, knowledge and help.

He made me into a true shop Monkey.
Neil is a ruler and a MEGA hero to me.

He runs a small speed shop outside of Kingston Ontario.

Jeff: LOVE the sketch of the Scorpion, I watched the build on the METALSHAPERS group by fellow member Don Ross, and I even have the t-shirt:) (They were sold to help finance this recreation of the original Scorpion)
.........and in going in search of links, I was surprised to find that there were several iterations built?? Don has been busy:)

Incredible Truck!
You know it's interesting, the more period style cars I see, the more I'm turned off by "all the latest".

When I was 16 I was choked that all the old guys had the cool cars ( insert 40 + here). Our cars were less than perfect, rusty with bad bodywork and driven in the rain, snow and sun. The cool guys had chromed everything and polished wazzoo's up the ying yang and they were perfect (near to perfect) show cars. Thinking back on those cars now, there isnt one of them I'd want.
Suddenly after taking lifes inventory, I'm one of those old guys too

It's got to be "period" for me anymore.
