Ford Tranny question

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a 3spd standard trans for my dads 58-59 ford fairlane w/ inline 6cyl.
I have a deal on 2-58 ford PU's for parts. Havent seen what is there yet but would a trany from the truck work in the car? Is there anything I need to check/ look for to make sure they are compatable?

Length, spline count, bell housing?

Might be a difference in the length of the tail shaft??

the input spline is different between the trucks and cars, the truck bellhousing is beefier because it mounts to the frame and the input shaft is longer, the car trans has its mount at the tailshaft. I have a 1954 3 spd OD unit from a car if you are interested, I got it for a truck and found out the hard way
