View Full Version : Tin Hunt
My father and I went on a bit of a tin hunt today at 2 different places, armed with a camera and a map written down by older gentleman...This is only a few pics of the stash but sadly nothing is forsale We were greeted by a fella and the first thing he said is "they are not forsale"...He said we could look around if we didn't give his location out...so that's what we did and I wont give his address out because I made him a promise that I wouldn't...But I do have dibs on the 36 chevy coupes and the 33 3-window he said......

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. As these cars are out in the open, lots of guys have likely gone by there and asked the question. That 33 Chevy 3 window would be worth saving - the owner won't do anything with these cars, nor have any idea how he could go about building them. They should be sold to guys like you who will build them. I have never understood the mentality of people who let good cars rust in spite of the number of cash offers they could otherwise get.

I totally agree. The only thing is these car are very well hidden...they can only be found by word of mouth....I asked him if he had lots of people and he said "no and he wants to keep it that way"....

Why wouldn't he want to sell any, this is just crazy. It is obvious they haven't moved in a long time. I just don't get....Not for sale

Hey Chad is that half way between Edmonton and somewhere, hahahahaha, man that is a pitty to see some of that good stuff just rusting away, CRAZY prick, someone could be doing something with those and getting more enjoyment out of those than that guy watching them rust away.
It's guys like that who have caused the clean water act to come into effect.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
All the best, John

Shaune, I used to have one of those "not for sale signs" on the missus but I have found that a "free to good home" works better.
Shame about all that good steel, Peter.

There's a lot of guys like that. Who knows what there thoughts are. None of these guys ever finish anything. I've got a friend that's just like that - lots of interesting old cars but none of them ever move except to sink a little farther into the ground. It's a shame!

I think we call these people "hoarders", which to me are guys who have a number of cars that they never work on, don't look after properly (by letting them deteriorate), and will not sell. There are a number of examples in this area that are well-known for their ability at hoarding. I have to admit that it is a topic that gets me riled up, but in trying to understand this hoarding practice, the best I can come up with is that these people have an emotional attachment to the cars that they cannot break - and probably hints at something that is lacking in their life being fulfilled by having a bunch of old cars sitting around rusting away. As the attachment is so strong, the usual arguments in favour of selling such as "you will never get around to building that car so why not sell it to me" or "I have cash and will pay you right now" will not work. But I say we keep trying anyway, those cars need to be rescued!

Hey Mike...When Hugh and I where over at Connies he was talking about starting to sell some stuff. In the 10 years or so that I've known him his tune has changed quite a bit... He now is realizing that time will just not allow him to do what he would like to do. He knows his buildings need alot of work and just not the cash to do it. I know he won't sell to just anyone but he will sell to you if the moon and stars are in the right spot. :D

Oh but would it ever be fun to be there with yur trailer when yur stars get alined......I could just see Josey if I was to come home with the earth mover....Wait a minute she might just use it to bury me.....I liked it when Connie was a tellin us about his warden sayin not to accept this trailer load and he said to the fella just you park it right there beside the house.....Connie seems to a very happy fellow and that is excelent.....When there again will make sure to stop.....I kin just imagine his knowledge as he know's lots about everything there.....

These folks are everywhere. Before I bought my 58, I tried to buy my brothers 67 Mustang. He tells me he's gonna fix it for his son one day. yeah right . He's had it for 15 yrs now and he's never put a wrench to it.
