My buddy Just bought a really clean 37 Ford 2 dr sedan and he wants to update the rear end in it..Just looking for something that is roughly the same width? I can honestly say I have never had a 37 ford in my shop...He just wants something simple with out breaking the bank..I tired to talk him into a brand new housing and axles but it was a no go... LOL

Just looking at your post about the rear ends...

I believe there is a fellow near you in Brantford Ontario that cuts down any axle housing and cuts and resplines axle shafts, Ask around I think the name is Chattertons machine.

Should work well for you no matter what driveline you want to convert the car too, It'll keep your cost down and your buddy can get a good wrecker 8" or 9" or 8.8" keep it Ford, and keep it in budget.

If I can dig up the number I'll post it for you.

Hope it helps

Hi Chad,

I built a '36 Ford and had it up until a couple of years ago. (the 35-40 frames & dimensions are the same). The 5 stud Maverick rear is perfect at 57" , as well as 70's Granada & Monarch at 58". (face to face of the drums - wheel mounting surface) When I first built the car, I had a Nova rear at 60 1/4". It was OK but I would get some tire rub in the heavy bumps (and we have lots of those around here) Once I went to the Granada, no problem. I think the Lincoln Versi (sp?) rear is around the same width as well and it has disc brakes. A friend of mine has a 37 Ford with a Maverick rear. If you go to my intro page you'll see a couple of shots of my 36.

Hope this helps.
