I'm curious to know what type of booster seat you're using in your 50's car. I have installed lap belts in the rear of our 57 ranchwagon but can't find a booster seat that uses only lap belts.

How are you keeping your kids/grandkids safe in your old car? thx

When we came over to canada we bought our UK booster seats with us.
They use a lap belt to hold the seat firmly in position through the base & really sinched in.
the seat itself then has a seat belt for the nipper to fit across both shoulder and the chest (like a rally car).
It was far better than anything we could find here but the reason we brought them with us is purley based on the fact that they fit in our luggage allowance so we could not see the point in buying others upon arrival.
we later found out that as they were not for sale in Canada and carried no safety test certfor Canada they were not covered by the insurance. however we could buy inferior ones and put our kids at risk but be covered by insurance, seemed kinda dum, they were however only rated to about 20/25Ilbs and our nippers were soon out of them. My advice is do what ever it takes to makes the little ens safe whether its fitting the correct belts or refraining from them riding in the vehicle. They are after all a fragile & very precious cargo.

I got a rear seat out of a 840 volvo wagon for my shoebox. It has built in 3 point seatbelts and a flip down armrest that turns into a booster seat. Kinda cool eh?
