Okay, anyone got any good ideas on how to install the horizontal felt window strips (whiskers etc) in doors? They used to be stapled on...
I know people that have used rivets and others have just used 3M weatherstrip adhesive...
thanks

In the past I have used tiny stainless steel bevel head screws and made sure they sink far enough into the felt so they will not touch the glass. Special ordered some tiny robertson screws from the local bolt house. One has to be careful drilling the right size holes in door as the screws are so small they twist off real easy.

I've had good success with the 3M Black weatherstrip adhesive.:)

Bash and scratch is onto it. I have used that method many times and it works fine. If your worried about the screw heads, you can cover them with a small amount of black silicone gasket maker for camoflage and prevent any chance of a scratch to the glass.

Have done it using small countersunk style POP rivets, countersunk into the base of the strip. Touched up the head with a Sharpie. No way it could touch the glass and didn't have to worry about breaking tiny screws. Easy to drill out if you have to replace the strip in the future.

don't like pop rivets to easy to slip and scratch something! screws are easily reversable as well for the next time you paint you simply unscrew them.
just two more cents :D

Screw or rivet ,,both are a pain in the arse,i have used urathane without a problem with many cars and the best bit is that if your good at it you can stick down right to the edge and it will not lift at all till you take it off.
