I am looking for input on the rebuild of the 230 Chrysler flathead from the 52 Ply.

I haven't torn the engine down yet so all i know is #4 piston is missing some of it's edge. My plan was to have the engine torn down and sent out for rebuild by Christmas......I'm a little behind.
My plan is to install a header (couple choices) and a different carb (Holley Weber 2 brl). If the Visa card hasn't exploded by then i would like a "hotter" cam also, but i haven't found too much info on what to choose from or from where.

Firstly does anyone have a shop to recommend that is note worthy. I planned on contacting a couple of engine rebuild places in Sask. The 230 flathead is in several farm machines and I think these Saskatchewan shops have done them before. Or should i be searching for a "performance" engine rebuilder ?

Oh yes i have also found plenty of info from Google on the 230 engine so i have lots of links saved i just haven't read them all yet. I have saved the flathead article off the HAMB also, but that all looks like V8 flathead specific

Shaune, I'm no engine rebuild guru, but as far as a cam goes, you might want to find a cam regrinder in your area. I've used Shadbolt Cams in Vancouver on some projects and they are very knowledgeable on what grind would suit your needs. Hope that helps.
