was wondering if all 10 bolt rear differential covers from the mid seventies are the same? I have a 1976 chevette that is my latest project car and was looking for a chrome rear differential cover for it, the original has a embossment on the top half that kind of looks like a Capital L on its side and have seen some mid size GM intermediate cars with a similar embossment on their diff covers .Are these the same diameters and is so one would think that they will be interchangeable. What is the purpose of this embossment on the cover and is it needed or should I just get a finned alunium one instead.

Its funny you mention the rear end cover for your Chevette, I was at the Princess Auto store in Whitby Ontario this last weekend and they have several odd sized Chrome diff covers in sizes I'm not familiar with, I'll look up the rear end on the net and compare it to what they have and get back to you.

Just did a quick search and now see the rear end is a 6.5" ring gear. I'll see what they have for you Saturday while i'm picking up some cut off disks
