A few weeks back my son Steve O entered a Lions Club Speak Out Contest in which you have to speak in front of an Audience and Judges for a minimum of 4 min. to a maximum of 6 min, anything less or more deducts points from your overall score. The subject is of your own choosing. The first round was for the local School District Competition and Steve won 1st place, Trophy, $25.00 which moved him to the second round of Speak Out. Last night he competed in Liverpool NS in the 2nd round Zone Competition against other 1st round winners of other County School Districts ( 72 Lions - 5 Judges ) and again Steve won 1st place, Trophy, $50 and now moves him to the Provincial Competition in Amherst NS on Apr. 24th & 25th. If he wins again against this tougher competiton he'll receive another Trophy, $100 and will move to the final competition on PEI for the Atlantic Championship, Trophy, $200. I'm right proud of him thus far in the contest and will pray for him in the next round. Go Steve Go.

Very cool bullet. Speaking of button popping situations, my youngest daughter Katie is currently in Montreal competing for a place on the Canadian Olympic Swim Team. CBC coverage begins tonight.

You might ask ...........What did he speak about.
His topic was ................. What a Mother Means to Me.
It was a real tear jerker, had all the ladies in the audience crying. Steve's mother passed away on Feb 9th '02 when he was 9 yrs. of age.

Bullet, good for you and Steve O, it is a thrill for parents when their kids do well at anything. Good for him he has confidence.
Tinmann, I hope Katie gets through to take the trip to China she has obviously worked hard and a lot of dedication as would have you and Susan getting her to training etc.
Good for both of your families it's a good news story from both of you.
Cheers, John

OK, update on the Provincial finals of the LION's Club Speakout held in Amherst NS today.
I'm sad to report that Steve will not be going on to the Atlantic competition in Charlottetown PEI next month, he did however finish 4th out of the 10 District speakers that made it to the NS Provincials. He made a good run at the #1 spot in the Atlantic and I congratulate him on a job well done.
Steve, I'm proud of you my son, good job.
