Need help here guys. I need a 168 tooth flywheel for my pre-1986 small block. Will a flywheel from a one piece seal smallblock fit on a two piece seal block? Trying to purchase on E gay, but most want to ship it using UPS and I refuse to send it that way. USPS is my preference since they don't add that $40-plus brokerage fee.

Now Carl,if you were looking for a flexplate I'd be able to help.I've gotta couple in the shop!The one piece seal flywheels/flexplates will not work with the old style blocks,the crank flanges are different.The first pic is a pre 86 block;

This one a piece seal block,the core for my GMC;

The yards might have something on the shelf - might be worth the call. Not sure what new ones go for, but a stock steel flywheel shouldn't be too pricey. Keep in mind they are quite heavy and shipping will get expensive.

Yeah Davy, I think I'll do that. It's been an edumacation disyfering the differences to flywheels ie: 168 teeth, 154 teeth, internal balanced, external balanced one piece seal, two piece seal 10 1/2", 11" alluminum, steel----pheew! Thanks Dale, yes I've got a brand new flexplate for this motor, but I decided I want to put a 4 speed into the Pontiac instead of the Auto. I'll put a request in the "wanted section" too.

carl,... traditionally the 157 tooth one is used in the cars.... juss tryin' ta add to yer confusion...... but the flywheel you look for should come out o' any standard trans late model chevy pickup.............
