Hi, I should have started here, but after spending a couple of days reading through the forum, I almost felt like I knew everyone. I had found the site by doing a google search for information on registering an older vehicle and I found Lono's description of the fun he had getting plates and regy for his Model A. We are in the process of re doing a project that some one else started. We are finding out that we are in for a lot of work. It is a model A frame with a 4" dropped Super Bell axle, and a ford 8" rear end. The frame it self was well done, but the body (a 36 Dodge truck cab, with a cut down 55 Ford box) had been chopped 4" but the chop was done poorly. The doors don't fit, and the body lines don't line up at all. It also came with a Dodge flat head 6 that we thought would work out nicely, but it turns out to have a hole in the head, and water had caused 1 cylinder to seize. We didn't want to run a small block chevy, but rebuilding the 6 is costly, and from what we have found out about the Mopar flatties, they don't swap out without lots of work (and hard to find parts). Anyway, it appears that there are folks here that will be able to help out when we need it, and lots of interesting reading.

Thanks for the welcome guy's. I have to say, seeing the word "junior" by my user name seems odd. I haven't been called that for a lot of years. I am 56, and some how junior doesn't seem to fit.

OK skippy ............ this' what I got to say.
No, just kiddin'
Welcome aboard.
Your truck you discribed don't look all that bad. But you're closer to it then I, so you know whats up.
The flat 6 ain't going to work for ya so how about a Dodge slant 6 or Chev 235 inliner. You could get a 3 - 2 barrel / tri manifold for the 235 and she'd go right smartly. Add some zoomies and, voila, instant head turner.
Here's what I started with and where I'm at now.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Bullet, I have read through the progress on your Studie, and absolutely love everything about it. I have been scouring Craigslist looking for a suitable engine. I have seen that aftermarket goodies like intakes and exhaust for the Chevy and Ford sixes are more abundant and a lot cheaper than anything I found for the Dodge flathead (on ebay that is). The Dodge 6 may still be the way we go, but we also have 2 good (rebuildable ) 327s, a 4 bolt 350, a good powerglide, and a rebuilt Buick turbo 350. I have a 32,000 original mile Buick Regal with a Buick 350, and I really like that engine set up, although there is not much in the way of performance stuff available for them. We will have to decide on something soon.
