I just got offa the phone from a l/d land line call from 'Stinky' Bob owner of the 53 Chebby hdtp (pictured on page one) with the white roof/blue body and he had NOTHING but great things to say about the event and the organizers!!! His car was picked as one of the top 10 with about 250 (or so...) entrys.

He was knocked out with the 'awards', which he says were laid out/set up around the mile zero post. The awards were (apparently) set up bag chairs but the chairs were 'different'. They had headrests on them and they (the head rests) were embroidered with the 'details' of the event and the fact that they were chosen as one of the top ten!!!! The local tv station did about a 10 minute interview with them (and others); due to air soon (he says).

Bob says that the few events they have attended 'up north' thus far (since their move north from Chilliwack in early spring) have ALL been sensational and that they are for the most part 'different' from the many many events he has attended in the lower mainland.
All you guys up north deserve a huge pat on the back for how ya'll put on an event!!!

......Alcan AV8, (whomever you are??) you deserve a hearty pat on the back too for gettin these pictures up so fast. The first thing Bob asked me was where/how in the hell do I get all these pictures of their car even before they arrive back home, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys.
The show really did go well. There were quite a few really nice cars.
It is interesting that the attendance is fairly consistant but every year there are so many new cars.
I have very little to do with the event other than helping out here and there
but Danny Schilds and Steve George are to be commended for their efforts.
Posting the photos was no problem as I also like to see photos from other events myself.

awsome pics would have loved to have been there!!! I never saw blaine massey's 63 convert 409,maybe he was out in the field making hay while the sun shines.I was born there and growing up there was always a lot of hot cars around,is there still a drag strip out of town?Awe the memorys, my 65 chev convert in a&w top down and way to many kids in it on our way out to doe river for a party loading up on muncy's!!!What was the name of the hamburger joint that sold burgers that were about 10-12 inches round close to the bus depot?anyway take care and thanks for the pics.:D

Dawson Creek does not have any drag racing anymore but FSJ has a good strip out at the airport. Was just there last saturday.

ALCAN: Thanks for all the pics!!....there looks to be a lot more tin in DODGE than there used to be:)
BTW: What year was that pic @ the drags taken?...and @ which location?
They originally started out racing on ROLLA Road, then moved to the south edge of town, just west of T-intersection, then up to 17St. I have made passes @ all three locations,(I wonder if anyone out there has pics?:):) as well as in FSJ back when they used to race on the road near the airport. The new setup @ the airport with permamnent timing tower is really nice!!

I have to ask.... What is the front end made from? The cab and box are obviously from a GMC/Chevy step-side, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what that front is made up of. Awesome fabrication work though!

My neighbours are from Dawson Creek. I'll have to ask if they've ever been to the car show there. How long has it been running for?
