Islandorange, I have a manual box out of a 73 Comet GT. You're welcome to have it if you are interested. You pay the shipping and it's yours. I am located in Kamloops, BC. Let me know.
The tag info. SMAF1 3A29B not sure if you require it.

Craig, let me know. I would send you a picture but I killed my digital camera. I am hoping to buy a new one here soon. I am pretty sure Comet/Mavericks are the same box but Mustang's I am not sure of.
You may be able to check on a Mustang Forum or Comet/Maverick forum to find out or you may be able to check with a local parts supplier as well to see if the cross reference.

Craig, I am not positive what the sector shaft measurement would be located. Are you looking for the measurement of the shaft where the box and pitman arm attach? Or is it the measurement where the column attaches to the box? Let me know. I will measure it after work tonight.
P.S. My father is going to take a picture of it later today. I will try and post it when he emails it to me.

Craig, I found this site after googling sector shaft.
It appears that it should be a 1.125 sector shaft according to the tag codes.
It doesn't specify but it cross references with the SMAF box which is a 1.125 diameter sector shaft. The shaft diameter is 7 3/16th's. The tag code is in an above post if you want to reference it.;)
I just got home and I mic'ed the shaft - it is tapered and the largest diameter portion is 1.088 inch.

Pretty informative site on Ford steering boxes. This manual box was made in January 29th, 1973 by the "B" work shift.
