The LA Roadster Show - Honeymoon Roadtrip

My wife and I were doing a honeymoon roadtrip down through the states - hoping to catch the touristy sites, hang at the ocean and try and fit in a car show.  We worked our days off so we'd hit the LA Roadster show in Pomona, California mid way through.  We ended up getting delayed a day due to vehicle problems in Oregon.  This put a bit of a damper on the rod part of the honeymoon since we ended up arriving late on Friday night causing us to miss the SoCal Speedshop open house.

Saturday, we arrived at the show and starting browsing the vendor area, which was pretty large with lots of top rod companies and shops in attendance, also featuring numerous publications like American Rodder.  Don Montgomery was on hand to sign any book you bought from him.  About halfway through the vendor area I realized it was already noon so I started the hunt for the swap meet area.  Eventually I found it and browsed through
with the wife.  I had been led to think it would be larger but, as we missed the beginning of it, most was already gone.  I was disappointed that I didn't pick anything cool up for my sedan but my disappointment was relieved when I saw the large "cool car parking" area.  As you can tell that is where most of my pics were taken. The best thing about the 'cool car parking' was that it was always changing with new rods coming and going, so you had to repeatedly walk the same lanes to see all the new stuff. This area was full
of cool coupes, sedans and awesome leadsleds.  We finished up the day at the
end of the parking area, with sore feet.

On Sunday we had to leave for Vegas at a reasonable time so we hurried
through the rest of the vendor area and quickly through the sea of roadsters in the main show area.  All kinds were in attendance from traditional to high dollar street rods.  We then headed through a few select rows of swappers in which there were a lot of new guys set up for the last day.  We ended up with the specialty car parking again which hosted a bunch of new cars, which again was constantly changing as people came and went.
The specialty car parking was my favorite part of the show, with the laid back atmosphere and stunning rods like the the ones that were around the Hop
Up booth.

Gene Winfield had a spot at the swap meet, which was pretty cool. Seeing many of the famous cars you have seen on TV, magazines and the internet was a big bonus as well.
