A Body For Our Project Car
by Frank Colgoni

When we decided to go ahead with this project, it was our objective to use as many Canadian manufacturers, suppliers and craftsmen as possible. As announced in Article 4, a Canadian fabricator will be acting as the general contractor and will build the chassis.

Because the body is another major component, it is only fitting that we secured it from a Canadian source. Also mentioned in the previous article was the fact that we currently drive a '32 roadster and had been building, a few years ago, a '32 3-window. In both cases, the body came from the the same Canadian source - Ramrod Fiberglass Reproductions of Trent River, Ontario.

Because we were more than happy with our previous bodies, we contacted Ramrod's Dave Teale about securing another 3-window body. The rest, as they say, is history. We knew we would get a quality piece. We did.

We will show you more about what goes into the construction of a fiberglass body, but first, have a peek at the almost completed body in Dave's shop:

At this point in the process, in order to complete the body, Ramrod needs to install the steel inner structure (which also supports the doors and trunk lid), hang the doors and trunk lid and add the oak in various spots, including roof bows, to facilitate upholstery.

So having said that, let's take a closer look at building a body.
