"Comrodderie"
- It Starts Here
You all know the words
camaraderie, or comradeship, right? Well, we just added a new
word to the English language: "Comrodderie" It's like
camaraderie or comradeship but is unique to rodders. Let me explain.
If you've "signed"
our register (available through the registry button), you have
likely received periodic, brief, newsletters from us indicating
what's new at Canadian Rodder. We issued one this week. However,
it didn't contain an announcement about what was new at Canadian
Rodder. Its content follows:
Not
About Cars
Normally,
we have to spend at least some part of each day, updating the
web site or at least formatting information, creating pages, cropping
photos, etc,. With the horrific events that took place today in
the U.S., I am barely able to get my s---t together to compile
this email.
It
is so unbelievable and almost impossible to comprehend what happened,
why it happened and the horrible aftermath.
Hopefully
this email will find you all well, if not also shaken.
These
events really put things into perspective. This
is one time when I hope your not surfing the web but are following
the coverage of the tragedy on TV.
regards
Frank
As
a result of sending out that newsletter, with that content, we
received more emails back (of similar sentiment) than any single
article or posting. Incredible? Yes. Surprising? No. It confirms
what I've known for some time. The rodding community is full of
caring, sensitive people who, admittedly, like cars but who are
people first.
One
of the reasons we picked the domain name canadianrodder was because
it emphasized the rodder rather than the rod. That is, the people
in rodding. Without the people, there simply would be no rodding.
After all a car is just a car - no spirit there. So, as I mentioned
at the top of this piece, we're going to use the word comrodderie
in the future. I appreciate all your replys. You know who you
are. For our American friends, we are deeply saddened by the events
of the this past week.
